Whole Genome Resequencing Reveals Genetic Diversity and Selection Signatures of Ethiopian Indigenous Cattle Adapted to Local Environments

چکیده

Cattle are among the most important domesticated bovid species in world, of which Ethiopia possesses large populations adapted to different agro-ecologies and production systems. Though several molecular population genetic studies have been done on Ethiopian indigenous cattle, genomic diversity selection signatures pertinent adaptation local environments yet be comprehensively characterized. Here, whole genome sequences 151 samples from 14 cattle were analyzed assess differentiation as well positive (using Hp, iHS, FST, XP-CLR) comparison Sudanese zebu, Asian Ankole, African European taurine cattle. High was observed between non-Ethiopian populations, while low inbreeding present within populations. Sixteen regions overlapping with 40 candidate genes commonly identified by at least three scan methods. frequencies missense SNPs ITPR2, CHADL, GNAS, STING1, KIT high haplotype differentiations compared The significantly associated biological functions pathways responsible for nutrient metabolism, skeletal development, immune response, reproduction, water balance, coat color pigmentation, circulatory homeostasis. Our results provide new insights into country’s diverse environments.

Whole-Genome Resequencing Analysis of Hanwoo and Yanbian Cattle to Identify Genome-Wide SNPs and Signatures of Selection

Over the last 30 years, Hanwoo has been selectively bred to improve economically important traits. Hanwoo is currently the representative Korean native beef cattle breed, and it is believed that it shared an ancestor with a Chinese breed, Yanbian cattle, until the last century. However, these two breeds have experienced different selection pressures during recent decades. Here, we whole-genome ...

Signatures of selection in tilapia revealed by whole genome resequencing

Natural selection and selective breeding for genetic improvement have left detectable signatures within the genome of a species. Identification of selection signatures is important in evolutionary biology and for detecting genes that facilitate to accelerate genetic improvement. However, selection signatures, including artificial selection and natural selection, have only been identified at the...

Genetic Diversity, Molecular Phylogeny, and Selection Evidence of Jinchuan Yak Revealed by Whole-Genome Resequencing

Jinchuan yak, a newly discovered yak breed, not only possesses a large proportion of multi-ribs but also exhibits many good characteristics, such as high meat production, milk yield, and reproductive performance. However, there is limited information about its overall genetic structure, relationship with yaks in other areas, and possible origins and evolutionary processes. In this study, 7,693,...

Whole genome resequencing of a laboratory - adapted population sample

As part of a study into the molecular genetics of sexually dimorphic complex traits, we used next-generation sequencing to obtain data on genomic variation in an outbred laboratory-adapted fruit fly (Drosophila melanogaster) population. We successfully resequenced the whole genome of 220 hemiclonal females that were heterozygous for the same Berkeley reference line genome (BDGP6/dm6), and a uni...
